How we do it
Simple ideas, thoughtfully taught
Using interactive tools, subject-matter experts, and pop-culture examples, we break down ideas people often dismiss as “common sense.” These principles may be familiar, but they are not always understood—or applied—at a meaningful level.
Our goal is to create a welcoming environment where adults can learn efficiently, apply ideas immediately, and actually enjoy the process.

My story
Creating the conditions in which people can learn

After working in higher education for more than 13 years, I realized adult learners were missing opportunities to develop personally and professionally. My mission became meeting their needs with simple, fun, engaging learning activities.
I graduated from college in 2006 with a degree in broadcasting. After less than a year in radio, I changed direction, returned to school, and was given the opportunity to teach an introductory communication course. I instantly fell in love with teaching.
When COVID-19 disrupted education, I was working as an instructional designer at a dental school. We used that disruption to create better learning experiences. Yet much of adult education eventually returned to long videos, lectures, and meetings that require people to show up without truly engaging them.
One Up Skill was created for people who question those traditional methods. We do not simply deliver information—we create an environment where people can learn.
